Fremont, CA (July 9, 2013) - ASUS today announced the availability of the GeForce® GTX 780 DirectCU II OC graphics card, the new highest-end offering in its NVIDIA-based graphics card range that delivers an amazing gaming experience. The card features an ASUS-designed PCB and all new DirectCU II cooling system, as well as DIGI+ VRM digital power delivery and robust Super Alloy Power VRM components.

The ASUS GeForce® GTX 780 DirectCU II OC features an NVIDIA® GK110-300 GPU with 2304 CUDA cores and 3GB of GDDR5 video memory on a 384-bit interface. For avid PC gamers who demand ultra-high detail and readiness for resolutions beyond full HD 1080p, the GeForce® GTX 780 DirectCU II OC card delivers extreme cooling, stability, and endurance well above that of reference card designs.

DirectCU II: Up to 30% cooler and three times quieter

For the GeForce® GTX 780 DirectCU II OC card, ASUS engineers developed a new thermal design that revolves around a direct-GPU contact 10mm copper heatpipe, compared to traditional 8mm heatpipes. This new design contributes up to a 40% improvement in heat transfer efficiency. The cooler also utilizes a custom designed heatsink, which ensures a significantly larger heat dissipation surface area.

Extensive testing guarantees the redesigned ASUS DirectCU II cooler features up to 30% lower temperatures and up to three times quieter performance under heavy loads compared to a reference GTX 780. Customers benefit from ultra-stable gaming, low noise environments, a wider overclocking margin, and a longer lasting product.

CoolTech fan: Improved airflow keeps critical components cool

The proprietary CoolTech fan used on GeForce® GTX 780 DirectCU II cards enables 360-degree airflow that is much more effective than traditional fans at the same RPM. It consists of a hybrid blade and bearing design, with an inner radial blower and outer flower-type blades. Combined, they provide multi-directional airflow to accelerate heat removal and enable consistently cool and quiet graphics card performance.

DIGI+ VRM and Super Alloy Power: Cleaner power delivery and greater durability

ASUS includes exclusive DIGI+ VRM digital voltage regulation on the GeForce® GTX 780 DirectCU II OC card. Precise power delivery means up to 30% lower power noise than reference designs along with improved stability and overclocking margins.

Super Alloy Power solid state capacitors, chokes, and MOSFETs use custom alloy formulations to ensure improved efficiency, superior stability, reduced operating temperatures and increased voltage thresholds during intense gaming and overclocking sessions. Compared to reference designs, the GeForce® GTX 780 DirectCU II OC features components with up to 2.5 times longer lifespans for increased reliability.

GPU Tweak and NVIDIA® GPU Boost 2.0 technology

Exclusive ASUS GPU Tweak is a user-friendly utility that makes it easy to adjust GPU and video memory speeds, voltages, and fan performance. Customers can also create dedicated profiles for different games, and set graphics card power consumption targets.

ASUS GPU Tweak works well with NVIDIA® GPU Boost 2.0 technology. GPU Boost 2.0 automatically transitions between base GPU clock speeds and boost speeds whenever it detects an application (such as a game) requires more power. NVIDIA® GPU Boost 2.0 also adds temperature detection for smarter auto overclocking.
