I am afraid I don't know what you mean by "replace the file in an existing installation". I tried installing the file 6.23 then I went into the folder that has it and I swapped the [email protected] file that was in that folder for the one that said 6.24. Still wont work. How much of a PPD boost will going thru all this give me?

Ok I have the SMP client running but I am not sure how best to config so that both cores are running full tilt. Right now when I look under task manager the system idle process is still showing 50% of the CPU. There are two incedents of FAH that show up in the task manager but only one has any processor power going to it. I want 100% of both CPUs folding when I am not using the PC. How can I do that?

I added in the flag -smp that I was missing hence the one core only. I lost 70% on a job trying to start up the second core. I get the error code FILE_IO_ERROR and the client won't start. I get rid of the -smp flag and the client works fine with one core. It seems to do better this way that it did with the basic CPU client I had at first but I want both cores running. Looking at my sig, which has my system specs, how many of my 4K PPD comes from my GPU and how much from my CPU. How many PPD could I add by working on getting the second core running right? Loosing all the work my CPU did from last night to today in a failed effort makes me ill thinking of the points I lost. IF I knew how many I would gain maybe I could , say set my alarm for when I think the current job will finish so that I won't loose work already done. Anyone on my team want to aswer this so I can get more points for us???

FILE_IO_ERROR
means your work files are corrupt basically, a really easy fix, just delete your core/work folder/log and it should work(it'll re-download those files for you) :drinkers:

(also, use -smp n where n is the number of cores(Core2duo= -smp 2))

I got it working and left it to run all night. This mornming it had the EUE thing. No point from my CPU for two days now GGRRRR. BAcking off the OC on the CPU from X15 to X14 adding a room fan to feed it cool air. Hopefully that will stabalize it.

This bites. I have been trying to get SMP client running cuz everyone says it will give me better points. I lost around 2500 points in the effort. How many would getting SMP client working right give me? Enough to make up for the downtime problems? Its running now but must be going awful slow since I have only 119 points on the day so far. It seems my GPU client has slowed down as well. Sorry team B I am trying the best I know how. Anyone that has any advise to help would be great!

So I still would like to know why SMP client is a good idea. Days 1-4 I ran the GPU client and windows desktop client. I averaged around 4200 PPD. I got 1800 the one day I was fighting SMP and now that its running I am averaging less than I was with the windows desktop client. Have I made a mistake somewhere or what?
