You are not wrong. That is one of the requirements for -bigadv folding.

Held the power button in till it shut down. It resumed from 6% on restart.

You need 10 wu to get the bonus points, you can start a bigadv wu anytime you want.

Off topic but....can the bigadv run 16 cores, or do you have to run 2 of them?

spitter, I am confussed. You say you can download a bigadv WU anytime you want? Just how do you do that? I read the rules and they say you must complete 10 WU with a A2 or A3 core first. Do you know something that I haven't read yet. Please explain.

Bigadv cores are a2 cores with a point value of 25000, if you put in -smp 8 -bigadv in vmware, you will get the 25k a2 core, you just won't get the bonus points if you don't have the 10 wu's on record.

Maybe...dual socket and zeons...down the road. Just doing some homework on how big of a headache it would be. It's a pitty from what I read you can't overclock dual socket boards. Thats what i have read anyway.

I saw this somewhere..but can't find it. why does bigadv take so long to go from writing files to disk..done to actually sending files? First unit took aa hour and 5 minutes , this unit is going on 1 hour 15 minutes..?

You can enable the Langouste De-Coupler. That way it'll fold while you upload.

Why do I always remember the stuff that's not important? Yet when it comes to school stuff I can't remember it? ](*,)

It's not the upload. that only took 38 minutes. The wierd part is I posted the msg @ 9:02 PM now the log says it started to upload @ 8:42...I guess the log does not stay current because at 9:00 it was not uploading. Unless it knows a way to do that without making the lights on my DSL modem blink. I wonder if the time is out of wack? O well It did it's thing, all is well.

My 965 that is folding 2 instances got 2 A_2 1920 units this morning...that'll help the -bigadv happen sooner :)

edit: nevermind...it won't run 2 of them without crashing. One at a time it is then.

Wish I could find out how many units I have left before I get the -bigadv bonus.. ](*,) It really bugs me not knowing. I know I have done A_2 1920 units with my 965...3 to 6...? I know I have done 3 -bigadv units. I just am not sure if the 965 ones count..or how many I did, I was not counting. Yes I know this is pointless.....and I would like to say typing this made me feel better....it didn't...still bugs me..

Um, I think the HFM monitoring program lets you keep track of up to 8 completed WU or something like that...

And it feels like a long time now. You sure you're not done that 10 WU that's required for the bonus?

Well...I went through the benchmark log in fahmon and it there seems to look like I am on my 8th one...maybe.
I am going on the assumption that the 25,000 point units are Gromacs CVS...so the 1920 point units that are Gromacs CVS count also...? If that is so...I am working on my 8th unit. But it could all mean nothing and I just wasted my time.....damned if I know?

Both 25k and 1920 point WU use Gromacs CVS as they used the A2 cores.
