GPU running in low power 3D

Post by Wifuzzy »

I have a GPU that has suddenly goning into Low Power 3D while folding. Just started a couple of days ago. Temps on the card are fine...57-60 C. Any ideas. When I reboot the computer it runs as it should for a while...I do not know how long it works for, but a least a couple of hours. I have changed nothing in the past month on that computer and It is running windows 7.

by low-power 3D do you mean fully throttled down to idle power state?(my GTS 250 goes from 738/2400/1800 to 300/100/600)

you say you changed nothing... does that include drivers? possible that new drivers have changed the power profile of the card. What kind of card is it?

I have a XFX 260 Black Edition. running stock settings and I have changed nothing. The cards seems to be behaving it's self today...but we will see. And by low power 3D..I mean just that..799 mhz shaders. they should be @1404 mhz. No screen saver...nadda. I will post again if it seems to be cured or if it does it again.

I had the same issue with my xfx gtx 260's here is the fix that I found.

1. IN RIVATUNER CLICK ON THE POWER USER TAB
2. CLICK ON + RIVATUNER \ NVIDIA \ OVERCLOCKING
3. CHECK EnablePerfLevelForcing , VALUE = 1
4. MAIN TAB , DRIVER SETTINGS , OVERCLOCKING
5. IN DROP DOWN BOX = FORCE CONSTANT PERFORMANCE LEVEL!
6. APPLY AND IT WILL ASK YOU TO REBOOT , DO SO!

Hopefully this will help you out seemed to fix the issue for me. :)
