A_1 cores with quad core

Post by Wifuzzy »

I may have missed this...but how to you fold with VMWare and run two instances so it folds on all 4 cores with those pesky A_1 cores?

If your still running nofred, you just change the configuration in the diskless folder for 4 cores to 2 and reboot the vmware.

Yep, if you have the peramitters set up on the vmware right, it will start 2 instances. It's a pain when you start downloading a2 cores, and may give you a big hit on your gpus.

it's working on a A_1 unit now..if I do this, will it mess it up or will it keep working from where it was?

edit:I threw caution to the wind and redid it. First try failed. Then I changed total cores used and now it works. It still only uses about 80% of the 4 cores....did I miss something or is that just the way it is?

It can mess things up and you can lose work to change things, just wait till you get an a2 core, you will find out. 80% on a1 cores is not a problem, if you are folding on 2 instances/ 4 cores, some a1s work units can not use the full power of the cores.

I noticed your bigadv turnin had no bonus, how many more turnin do you have till you get the bonus??

I don't know....the passkey has some A_2s 1920 units on it on it but I do not know how many. I suspect I have 5-6 done now. If they all have to A_3 then 9 more :(
edit: is there a way to find how many left?

There is a way to tell if a wu is for bonus or not, I don't know if there is for how many you need if it's not a bonus wu. I don't personal know what to look for thou.
