FAH installer

Post by skier »

Hi all!

Just chiming in here, I am installing the new client (first time in a while folding as you could tell) and noticed it is WAY different that it always used to be, it's actually functional!

the only reason i'm really even folding is because my heat doesn't get turned on until Oct 15 (dumbest law ever), and it's getting very cold already- so computer heater it is!

i still remember 38296 by heart!

from no desktop turned on for more than an hour a day to my Desktop F@H on the c2q and 460, and a secondary Celeron D system I was setting up as a server at the time on for ~3hrs a day.

I'm sure there were other factors too, but that bill was definitely a shocker (granted it was less than $100 still, but we don't even have tv right now so that much of a hike can't just go on :( )

yeah, shocked it jumped up that much from a couple PCs a few hours a day...

The average for electric is 14 cents per kw hour.

A 400 Watt PC would need to run 715 hours to reach 286 kw hours or $40.04 in cost.

That is 30 days exactly, so if you ran a PC at 400 Watts of load for 30 days straight then that makes perfect sense.

That's why I hardly fold at home anymore. It's nice to donate but the price is getting a little high for me. I can turn off my PC for most of the day and just use my I-Pad instead.

Well it's also changing times... Most people can get away with just a tablet these days.
