Has anyone submitted GPU WU's this weekend and got no points?

I've submitted ~3-4 WU's since friday but got squat...... :?

I'm using the latest client, internet connection is always on and I've even seen the client finishing a WU and downloading a new one............yet no points :?

Completed 2 more GPU WU's and no points!
That's it...............unless I get my ~1500pts I'm not folding with my card anymore! I'll save on my electricity bill and just use my CPU.

I may try SMP folding with vmware and 64bit SuSe.

I might have found the problem, when I checked my config the following option was enabled "Minimize networking -- get and submit work in batches (no/yes)"
It looks like it's storing finished WU's and submitting in batches.........not much use for a beta client IMO.
I'll run it for one more night and see how it goes!

Not to worry, I'm sure that was the problem, also if I enabled "use IE settings" I wouldn't be able to download a new WU either!

I'm still not getting all my points for my GPU :(
I'll make a post over at FAH's forums with a copy of my .cfg file. I'm installing SuSe x86-64 now using vmware workstation, mayby that will give more than ~183 PPD

According to Stanford, the nvidia 7X00 series GPU's ran the folding code too slowly to be worth while, but I was wondering if anyone has tested it. I would think since they've had it running before it should work fine. The only problem is the part of the code that checks out which card you have running. The software checks which card you have (I think, certainly not positive about this) by looking at the windows registry key for the driver. If it says x1600, x1650, x1800, x1900 or x1950, the program runs. If not, it halts. I wonder if changing this registry entry would allow the cards fold. Would be interesting to try. Right now I have an x1600 and an x1900GT, no 7x00s to test, but I'm sure they're are tons out there that might want to give it a go.

The reason I think this might work is because installing the driver manually for some ATI cards that aren't supported (x1300s for example) with an x1600 driver allow them to fold okay.

Re: Official F@H GPU Work Unit Thread

I later found out from mhouston that the 7x00 series GPUs had limited registers, and the looping/branching wasn't robust enough to handle the latest GPU code they wanted to run.

http://forum.folding-community.org/ftop ... c-120.html

"We started originally on NV4X hardware. The hardware was slow because of register pressure and looping issues. When we got X1K boards, looping had fewer restrictions and we didn't have performance cliffs with registers. So development has continued down that path which makes things no longer work on boards before G8X on Nvidia's side without a large rewrite and even then, performance is extremely poor compared to X1K hardware. G80 *should* work with the current code setup, we are just hunting bugs through the shader compilers and code setup."

-mhouston

Big thanks to Mike for the answers.

The 2600's may not be the best gaming GPU's out there even for those on a budget, but I do hope they're good folders. Legit, no reviews yet on the 2600 cards? Any reason why the hold out?

Um, my general purpose computer has an X1900XT and I'd like to try using that to fold. Do I need to download a special version of the client? or will one of the regular clients work?

Please Advise! (Thanks in advance!) :)

Edit: I apologize profusely!! I should have just gone and looked before asking... (download complete - I will now attempt an install...)

This is with a Sapphire X900XT/256. However, I just realized that it may be running this with the standard "non-3D" clocks - so that's 500MHz core and 600MHz memory. Also I just remembered that I haven't updated my video drivers on this system in a couple of months.

I could overclock this card if I reinstalled my Koolance water cooling kit. Otherwise the confines of the case make that impractical for long term use. Would overclocking the card help significantly with folding?

Fired up a 3850 and 2600XT with the new GPU2 client and it's working great, and making good point production. Has anyone else started using this client?
