I'd use your current XP disk to dual boot, xp for the main os, then for any new games you might get boot into vista.

32bit isn't 2gb limit like someone said. I have 3 running fine. I have a torrent client open, music and any game running with room to spare. I'm not saying it won't be outdated in 2 weeks but, as of now 3 seems alright

They weren't saying that you can only use a maximum of 2GB, but just that windows can only physically allocate 2GB per program, I'm not sure about the validity of this statement, but I think I remember reading something about this that agreed with this statement (If I recall correctly)..

that is weird, about the 2gb max per program I see possible, but, if Vista is meant to be the next big thing they shouldn't have released a 32bit version. How lond do you think it will be before 4gb no longer covers what we need? I remember back in the day with Doom 3 I had 1gb of ram and everyone thought it was obnoxious. As well as a waste of money. They were like that will never be used. Man when I built myself another computer I threw in 2gb, 1gb sticks. I decided to put one in. I booted up FEAR and tried to play it. Yea right. It wasn't enough to take it off medium before the game was spazzing out. Now 2gb will leave you stuck sometimes.
But, the big thing is how can vista 32 take off like they wanted it to for gamers. With DX10. Well, 3 years from now dx 10 better be using more than 3gb of ram. and when it does, 32bit is now out.

From M$
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/pl ... AEmem.mspx

"Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 Memory Support. The maximum amount of memory that can be supported on Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 is also 4 GB. However, Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition supports 32 GB of physical RAM and Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition supports 64 GB of physical RAM using the PAE feature.

The virtual address space of processes and applications is still limited to 2 GB unless the /3GB switch is used in the Boot.ini file. When the physical RAM in the system exceeds 16 GB and the /3GB switch is used, the operating system will ignore the additional RAM until the /3GB switch is removed. This is because of the increased size of the kernel required to support more Page Table Entries. The assumption is made that the administrator would rather not lose the /3GB functionality silently and automatically; therefore, this requires the administrator to explicitly change this setting."

And for a complete list try this.
