cpu being reported wrong to windows

Post by XstollieX »

Just for the hell of it I went into my general computer properties and noticed something odd. My system believes i am running my q6600 at 3.6ghz. Cpuz and other third party programs see it right. I have my cpu set at 400x8 for 3.2 at the moment. Anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

I have the same problem with my E6600. All of the "real" programs report right (CPUZ, Crystal CPUID, Everest), but Windows properties reports it as 3.6 using the same multiplier as you. I've never concerned myself with it too much, but just wanted to let you know you aren't the only one it happens too.

Its because windows thinks that it is running at its default multi of 9, instead of the bios locked 8.

makes sense. as you can see by the time of my post, I wasn't quite processing information fully yet, and was packing for a LAN party at the same time.
