Widows XP x64 on SATA drive

Post by manox »

I'm trying instal Win xp prof x64 on my dell Vostro 1710 laptop which has SATA drive. I have found how to add drivers by nlite but then win won't find certain files like iaStor.sys iaStor.cat Txtsetup.oem. I have got this files from intel site so I'm wondering how to integrate them to installation. Ican't set AHCI or SATA in Bios and I'dont have flopy.

No way to have a floppy disk added to the system?
If not then you might have done something wrong in the nlite setup of the iso.

I have set my sata to run in ide mode (in BIOS) and that works great, when running in sata mode things were pretty flaky regardless of OS. For instance files would vanish then the system wouldn't boot after a few days. Unless you are running in a raid setup and serving up files I would just set bios to treat the drive as IDE and forget installing the sata stuff.
