Vista Ultimate 64 - Flash Drive Issue

Post by FZ1 »

I can't get Vista Ultimate 64 to recognize any of the flash drives I own. This seems to be a common issue but I have yet to find a fix. Any ideas?

I use Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit w/ SP1 on all my test systems with numerous flash drives and never had a single problem on the over 50+ systems i've built over the past year... I suggest installing the Intel INF drivers again as something got screwed up it sounds.

Windows is telling me it cannot find a driver for the device(s). It can't find one on the HDD or online...shows up in device manager as "other devices"

Fixed it. Somehow my windows\system32\driverstrore\filerepository\ dir got corrupt. I did a clean install on a spare drive, copied the files within and pasted them into my existing install. Works fine now.

Heh, well that is Vista for you. It never did that with flash drives for me, but it has managed to corrupt other drivers and system files lord knows how.
