Windows problem restarts computer
Windows problem restarts computer
Hey there guys,
A little problem just surfaced here on my computer, it came up the first time yesterday while playing GTA IV. I suddenly ended up on the desktop with a message showing, that my pc is going to be restarted because some Xbox Controller service terminated. I didn't think much of it and just let it restart and kept on going, but this time I got a different error message ( after gaming for about 10 min)
and my computer restarts itself again. I've been trying to figure out what the problem is, but haven't had any success yet. Today I got the same error message in CoD WaW after gaming for about 15 min, but yesterday after the errors with GTA I could play CoD for more than 3 hours without problems.
I've got Win7 Professional 64bit running.
Hardware specs in sig.
Does anybody have an idea on how to get rid of this?

Re: Windows problem restarts computer
The only thing I can think of that sounds related to that is; is the UPS (uninterruptible power supply) service running?
Does the event manager have any more information on the errors? (Right click 'my computer' > manage > event viewer > windows logs)

Re: Windows problem restarts computer
Just got another error message after 25 min of gaming
I couldn't find the UPS service anywhere, but I made a screen of the eventlog. The error is the one at 14:50:14
The error messages are the ones at 14:50:15 right after the error. There are three errors at the same time, the plug and play thing, the power management and DCOM server stuff, depending on which is faster I get a different error message, but there all at quite the same time.

Re: Windows problem restarts computer
Ok so I found out that I can change what Windows does on termination of these services, so I set Reboot the computer to Reboot the service for The Plug and Play service as well as the Power service, but I can't change the settings for the DCOM service. I tried running the service manager as admin, but the options are still greyed.
The errors still occur for the services, but at least Windows doesn't reboot anymore, if I can set the DCOM option.
Any advice?

Re: Windows problem restarts computer
Apparantly DCOM isn't needed, so if you go to the services section on the my computer "manage" window, you can change that service from "auto" to "manual" so it doesn't run (and crash) all the time.

Only problem with that is that I can't change that either, as it's greyed out as well.
Re: Windows problem restarts computer
it shouldnt be greyed out its a local computer process,I havent checked it on a Win7 machine but usually if its greyed out it doesnt support the stop, etc. are you logged on as administrator? just saw you said you tried running the service as admin, but are you logged on as admin? instead of using the manage function run the console as SYSTEM that will get you in. ( not really reccomended though) Also might want to run some scans for malware etc.

Yeah I'm logged on as admin and I'm the only user on this machine. I can't change any settings of the DcomLaunch service, I even tried via comand line, but then I get ; [SC] OpenService FAILED 5: Access is denied.

start a CMD prompt as SYSTEM (psexec -sid cmd.exe ), and from there launch services.msc. When you do that, the Startup type dropdown becomes enabled

Re: Windows problem restarts computer
Ok that worked, so I set the options to reboot the service on termination. I'll go to gaming now and will report back on the result of the changes.

Re: Windows problem restarts computer
You can check your power supply in CPU and you can check SMPS that it's working properly or not. There is some problem in power supply to reach in motherboard. You can reconnect all power cable form CPU. This is the basic solutions that we can try . But if any serious issues are there then we should not take risk to the our PC and from my past experience I can suggest you to go for Computer repairs sheffield . They have done a great job to my computer which was suffering from a critical problem and also gave a proper follow up . So try it out.
Re: Windows problem restarts computer
Most likely, the full exception you got was 0x0000008E KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED generic cialis
Possible causes:
1. Hard disk damage or failure
2. Configuration problems with the BIOS, memory, hard disk, or other devices
3. Incompatible device driver
4. Incompatible software
There are several steps you can try:
1. Try to boot up through Safe Mode.
2. Locate the conflicting driver (address 80543E9D base at B079AB88) and troubleshoot it depending on its functionality.
