Steam Error

Post by Apoptosis » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:41 am

I fired up one of the test systems over the weekend and got this error:

Steam.exe (main exception): CMultiFieldBlob(pSerialized): partial field header at end of record

Anyone know of a simple fix?

Nevermind I found the solution I think:

To fix this error use the following steps:

Exit Steam
Navigate to your Steam installation directory. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ by default.)
Delete everything in that directory EXCEPT the following:
steam.exe
steamapps directory (All of Steam's game files are kept here.)
Restart Steam to test the issue

It looks like the last video card I reviewed corrupted some stuff as I was overclocking and crashing the system :(

I deleted everything in the folder except steam.exe, steam.icon and the steamapps directory and then reran steam.exe.

It downloaded all new files and was good to go:
