AMD Bulldozer FX8150 - DDR3 1600MHz versus 1866MHz Memory

Post by Apoptosis »

Dan asked me what the memory bandwidth looks like on the AMD FX-8150 'Bulldozer' CPU, so I did some quick tests for him this morning on the test bed that I have up and running.

Running at 1600MHz w/ CL9 timings and a 1T command rate I was able to reach 17.9GB/s

When the memory bumped up to 1866MHz w/ identical CL9 timings and a 1T command rate I was able to reach 19.3GB/s. This is an 8% performance increase in memory bandwidth by going up just 266Mhz.
