AMD 1090T AND INTEL 2500K

Postby masten12 » Fri Feb 10, 2012 9:31 am

Hi,

I want to put it simple straight.

This computer is not for gaming or browsing or flashy stuff or for everyday use. This is a strict Corporate system. I will run a SAP Software on this.

I have no idea about the Processors and suitable Motherboards which run Win. Server 2008 Enterprise Edition 64 Bit Operating System very very well on the machine.

For Processors I have

1. Intel Core i5 2500 or 2500K
2. AMD Phenom II 1090T Black Edition or 1100T Black Edition

PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY PROCESSOR WHICH YOU THINK WILL SOLVE MY PURPOSE.

For Mother Boards I have

1. Asus P8P67 Mother Board
2. Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 Motherboard

PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY MOTHERBOARD WHICH YOU THINK WILL SOLVE MY PURPOSE.

Let me know if You have any suggestion for the Processor/MotherBoard combination.

NO GRAPHICS,GAMES,FLASHY STUFF. ONLY ONLY SERIOUS HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTER CUM SERVER

RAM for this Machine

1. Kingston 1333 MHz
2. Corsair 1600 MHz

I'm in India. We do not have 8GB RAM sticks here. So I'm forced to use 4 X 4GB sticks for now. Once I get 8GB sticks then I will upgrade to 32 GB RAM.

Cooling System

Do You have any idea on the Cooling System. or Casing like that of Cooler Master or any Cooling Fans.
Frankly I do not have any idea.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Masten.

SAP software is for small to medium businesses. If you have a small business with just a couple machines your choices above may suffice. However, I'm thinking you need to choose a server if you're hosting your inventory, etc. on a network or online, accessible to your staff as well as consumers/users of your products or services.

Do you have the items already?

If you must choose from the 2 above, you'll probably need to decide on your motherboard needs first--RAM and peripheral needs. The two chips are similar in most benchmarks I follow, the 2500K having a slight advantage imo. The motherboards you mentioned are both Intel and will not allow for the AMD chips.

I would suggest a Xeon (Intel) or Opteron (AMD) based server. Here is a nice setup I've worked out for a small business network, low power usage, yet powerful:

ASUS KCMR-D12(ASMB4-IKVM) Server Motherboard Dual Socket C32 AMD SR5670 DDR3 1333 Model #:KCMR-D12

AMD Opteron 4184 Lisbon 2.8GHz Socket C32 115W Six-Core Server Processor

Kingston HyperX 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model KHX1333C7D3K4/16GX

OCZ Z-Drive M84 512GB PCI-E PCI-Express interface (x8) MLC Enterprise Solid State Disk OCZSSDPCIE-ZDM84512G

Western Digital RE4 WD2003FYYS 2TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

You'll also need a solid PSU. I like Antec models myself. Also buy a UPS system. I have a small UPS from APC.
