Way over. since i know all my replaced parts are fine I can resell most of the replaced parts on ebay. I am going to lose some money but it shouldnt be to bad.

picked up a 2.8GHz Intel P4-Socket 775 - 1MB Prescott CPU off ebay today for $19.00..

hope this fixes it.

well it was the CPU- the new one came in the mail yesterday. I popped it in and it ran flawlessly for a few hrs. its a good thing i replaced - 1gb RAM, 2 motherboards, and a PSU before figuring it out. but at least now i can get another CPU and build another computer with the left over parts

I havent forgotten about this. I just need to build the case and I will be ready to rock. after all the ups and downs with the computer i just got burned out.. but one of these days it will be finished.

Thanks for the updatel. I'm curious to see it once you get it done. So were you able to recover some of the costs on all those parts you bought?

actully no i havent.. though to be honest i havent really tried to either. I am a video card and case away from building another system. So i have been pretty tempted to just do that.

ok started building. these pics are far from the finished product. but its a start.. I was hoping the black laminate on the case would match the contoller but no luck..

I am currently folding with the guts for this thing. so i've been putting off finishing this for now for a couple weeks. I will be working on mounting the keyboard slide out tray and the speakers and receiver in the next week or so.

ok something had me thinking.. the 6x9 speakers i have had great bass in the box i bought them in.. when i took them out not so much. So i am going to mount them in the cabinet but i am worried the vibrations might mess with the computer parts. I guess i'l just have to give it a go and find out.

The only thing at risk would really be the hard drives, and you can suspension mount them from the rest of the case so that they are kept protected.

Could you fabricate speaker boxes into where you are planning installing the speakers? Have any pictures showing where the speakers are (will be) in comparison to the comp hardware?

no havent gotten that far yet. i was thinking about that but it is starting to look like it might be a tighter fit than I originally thought. I might be installing the keyboard/mouse tray and projector area tonight after work. If i do i will get some pictures

I am on a fence right now if I want to use a receiver and 6x9 speakers or just use a computer set up and have an external connection for a sub woofer for movies and such. the problem with the receiver is the heat that is going to put out. I am also worried about the heat from the projector. A good thing is if you look at the pojecter you can see the heat blows out the front so that wont be inside the case. I will obvoiusly have fans blowing air in from the outside to feed the pojector cool air. I was thinking about using two PSU's also one to run the fans and one to run the computer. I am not sure how i go about getting both to turn on as only one would be connected to the motherboard?

i would go with the reciver. if it ends up getting to hot you could pick up something like this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/ ... s_id=23476 or just gehto rig some fans on it

You know, for my setup I just used an audio card and a set of 2.1 speakers. I mounted the two satellite speakers so that they weren't covered and just sat the sub in the cabinet. It has worked very well for me so far. I know your setup is a bit different, but just a thought.

you can see the two satellite speakers mounted into the marquee. Kinda hard to see them in this pic, but you can see them on the left and right above the tv. The silver logos on them are the bottom fronts of each. I just cut holes in the panel and mounted flush. At least for my setup they work very well.

i am kinda maxed out on my budget do i really dont want to spend more for a $80 cooler. i like what you have sporg. is your sub in its own box or it it part of your cabinet? or in its own box in the cabinet? i want to be able to pump out some good bass if we are watching movies with it. So i was thinking the sub just connected might be better?

i cant really tell how that cooler works i am guessing it has fan blowing down on the component but i dont see the connector to run.. its very possible at this point. ehhh i am confused

The lower part of my cabinet is what houses the computer and the sub. So it's basically just a big box. I have the computer in a generic mid-tower case that I had laying around and haven't had any issues with vibration or anything from the sub.

just wondering.. does the PC you use have a PCI-e slot?

You know, honestly I have no idea. I'll have to pop the case and look. I slapped it together a few years ago and I am not sure what's in there. Heck, it may be an AGP board. Since MAME doesn't require much to run it I think it's basically a P4 Celeron and an AGP card. I'll try to remember to look when I get home.
