Re-Animating an old eMac

Hey all!! Got an idea and need some help. Tell me what ya think with input, ideas, feedback, etc...
The Scenario:
I have an old eMac G4, with a 1GHz PowerPC chip, and well, it's a relic and it's taking up desk space. I can't update it. Apple won't support it (go figure). And oh yeah, another problem: it's an Apple (sorry, don't mean to label-bash )
My Idea:
Replace the CRT with an LCD. Gut it and give it new life once again. Would like to stick with AMD, as it's what I know, but nothing is a dealbreaker. I'm thinking about Win7 for the OS, but I am curious as to what the hardware list would entail (mobo, CPU, RAM, SSD/HDD's, Vid, PSU, etc.)
Anyone think this is a do-able endeavor? Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
