[ North Bridge cooling MOD ]

Post by CityStars »

This method cost almost nothing and gives you an unbelievable results, if you are facing the heat problem and you are using a different motherboard you still can apply this method with taking in regard the differences between the heatsink style and design
Northbridge temps dropped 25 C and the CPU dropped 4 C
These temps drops helped me to overclock my Core i7 920 D0 to 4.2GHz on air easily

I guess that is called a mod, but it sure ain't pretty...

Just screw or zip tie the fan on the right side and let it blow across the heatsink rather than down it... It would look 100x better and not involve the fugly mounting system... You just to link back to your site though, so whatever.

Does not have to be pretty, just has to work nice little mod. You can use screws to hold the fan in place, and this will make it look a bit cleaner. I just hang a fan off of one my long CPU mounting bolts and direct it over the IOH/NB.
