Seventeam for PSUs, advice/info appreciated

Post by dualbooter »

Hi all,

Wondered if you could give me any advice or information.

I've been trying to find a bit more information if Seventeam PSU's are any good?

I found one post in your forums here
http://forums.legitreviews.com/post114296.html#p114296
which I think means that Seventeam must be an OEM for Coolermaster, guess that should mean the quality is good.

I see a few reviews on the web which appear pretty good, but I am most interested in an 850W V-Force PSU as I found them available from here in the UK for a good price http://www.overtek.co.uk/products/power ... er-supply/.

Only found one review out there for this PSU, http://www.pcfrags.com/pc-hardware-revi ... age-5.html just worry a bit that it is only review

Does anyone else have one of these or know much about them??

Thanks

Never heard of them, but I know the guy that did that review, and he's solid. With the company being an OEM for CoolerMaster, I'd have thought their quality would have been ok too.

I'm interested to know what it is you are running that makes you think you need 850W of power though.

Hi, am looking at building a new SLI rig with a pair of Geforce 9800GX2s or similar. The rest is not yet decided figured I should start with most important key component first. Would love to go Core i7 if possible. 850W should give plenty of overhead for future, and also, with it not using the full power cacacity, it will run quieter than if I picked a lower powered PSU and ran it closer to its limit. Also mid points of PSU power capacity usually give the highest efficiency, or at least thats what is shown when you look at http://www.80plus.org. That is with the exception of a few that appear to under-rate the PSU to achieve higher 80plus rating, ie Silver, you can see that peak efficiency drops of much later.

Doh, I just bought one of these last month.

Wish I had waited a little longer. Now they are offering them with free shipping.

Still it's doing the job very well and isn't at all noisey considering.
