Fan magnets

Post by bubba »

Ok. I never gave much thought to the magnets in fan motors before. Working on the bench I picked up a Noctua fan and a case screw was stuck to it. So I wondered if other fans I had laying around were like that.

Nope, just the Noctua, I made a short clip thought you guys might get a kick out of it.

That would be because one is an electromagnitic fan and the other is not... correct?

Even with the fans powered up they are nothing like the Noctua fan.

Under the sticker of the other fans, can you feel a pin that would allow you to undo the drive shaft and remove the blades from the fan assembly?

The Noctua's don't have that, so it could be why there is a magnet there where there isn't on the others.
