OCZ PSU Died > 11/19/09 Now "Kilt" an Enermax Infiniti!!

Post by jedihobbit »

The OCZ PSU in YsSMN (see sig) appears to have gone to the hardware junkyard in the sky. :( Came down to the office Wed morning I think it was and the system was "off". When I hit the power button to see if it would start, there was........nothing, no fans, no poof, no nutton.

I removed the unit and connect a mobo jumper and powered it up, the PSU fan didn't even turn, so hooked a cable to it to power the 2 x 120mm fans on my tech station and still nothing. SO am starting RMA proceedures with the egg as it was purchase March of this year.

Was wondering if anyone has had an issue with the ModXStream Pro series not liking long periods of heat?? I didn't think it was getting that hot, but it was set up to assist in cooling the cpu. The main thing it was doing was Classic and GPU folding 24/7.

1. The OCZ........ :prayer: they were great!! Guess it pays doing it through their forum as it seemed to make getting the RMA painless and shipped on Friday the 6th. "Officially" received it on the 10th and exchanged for replacement the SAME DAY!!! Left the factory on the 11th (ups) and had it in my grubby hands on the 16th. :) It came as a shinkwrapped package and appears to be retail new not refurb.

2. The new death....... :( When the OCZ died I wanted to continue folding with the 4870 in YsSMN so pulled the Infiniti out of Kermit. Because I felt that heat may have contributed to the OCZ's failure I installed a Silverstone "squirel cage" fan at the rear and left the side panel off. Well got home from work Wed and DOA. When I tried a jumper block I hear (feel?) a zap in my hearing aid and the safty shut down alarm would start beeping. :toimonster:

As a side note the SG03 has 2 x 120mm thermally controlled fans in the front controlled by a temp probe at the cpu and mosfet heat sink.
