LGA 775 W/ Thermalright XP-120

Post by Major_A »

I have a PC that has been running the stock Intel cooler since I pieced it together in November. Now that summer is approaching I decided to give my old XP-120 a shot, it served me well with my Athlon 64 3000+ and later Opteron 170. After looking around I found the kit I needed to install it on the 775 platform (found the product here for $5.75). I grabbed an older Xigmatek 120MM PWM fan I had laying around and got it hooked up. Without the AS Céramique curing at all I'd say the difference is pretty substantial. To put the icing on the cake there's no longer that high-pitched fan whine when there is a significant load on the CPU. For rummaging through old computer parts and $5.75 I'd say the update was worth it.

Looks like you are getting your moneys worth out of that old E5200!
I have come to the conclusion that "FaceBook" should be renamed "FacePalm"

It is better than the Phenom X3 it replaced. There are 2 computers I constantly use, this one and the one I won here on LR.
