Looking into new water cooler!

Post by camaroguy1998 »

This is for my system in my sig!
The pump is starting to make a bit of noise from time to time!
Its creeping up on 4 yrs old with almost 24/7 run time.

Does anyone have a self contained H2O setup thats been reliable
and they would recommend as a pretty much direct replacement for a factory AMD 9590 setup?

I have a Thermaltake Water 2.0 on my old core i7-3770K and it has been rock solid for all these years. Recently started having a bit of trouble with one of the fans not wanting to get going but kicking it to high speed and then back down makes it purr along (kind of like me as I get older lol). The 3.0 is out and has a 3 year warranty I believe so pretty decent in my book!

Anyway i would say to look at Thermaltake or even another CoolerMaster since yours has done so well.
Remember, I am opinionated and nothing I say or do reflects on anyone or anything else but me :finga:

I have the Lepa Exllusion 240 and it is a great cooler. Got it about 3 months after release and still going at full speed. I have only used mine for 4-6 hours a day with pump at 100%/4000rpm 25% above its rated max speed. Even Enermax have said its rare for a pump to far exceed its rated speed but not uncommon to exceed its rated speed within 10%. Still, I'm am one of few that got lucky. got my i7 2600k (5ghz 1.416v) running 65c at 100% load on occt linpack after 30mins testing.

Best cooler I have used even though I recently tested a Corsair h150i and Thermaltake water 3.0. Both were great coolers but got my 2600k to 70c(Corsair h150i) and 68c (Thermaltake Water 3.0) and 65c (Lepa Exllusion 240) which all three hit after 10mins and remained at for another 20mins before ending the test. This was done with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. Surprised the h150i and Water 3.0 didn't beat the Exllusion.

The only set back of the Lepa is the price but the £100 I paid over here proved best cost/performance as the h150i is £150 and Water 3.0 £120 in the UK. Get what ever Corsair or Thermaltake or Lepa you can reasonably afford. All will cooler fantastically but Lepa wins me over surprisingly.

I'm thinking this will make a nice replacement for my ailing CoolerMaster!

I guess the side panel may not make it back on! Corsair 600T has no window! :(

LOL!

For me, its more for the cooling performance than the RGB!
The RGB is just an added bonus!
Already been bit by the LED bug! lol

my rig sets 2 feet from my head when I sleep. I blacked out any LED I could find on my system. Helps for the nights I leave the thing running to crunch on downloads (DSL Sucks) or trans-coding.

Its been 9 months and the setup is fine!
The noise wound up being the rear fan on the radiator!
I replaced it with a cheap 120mm fan I had laying around and so far no noises or big issues!
My temps are running about 3 to 5C warmer but still in a good range!

Yeah yeah, I should've posted this a couple months ago when I figured it out!

True to form....When you have a matched pair(of anything) they should be replaced at the same time!
Monday nite my electric flickered and then on Tuesday afternoon it went off for 3 or 4mins.
Apparently when the electric came on the fan I did not replace DID NOT!(at that moment unknown to me)
I started it back up and it ran for about 5 mins then shut down!
When it finally cooled down enough to start up again I noticed the fan wasnt running!
So, now it has 2 new Matching cheapo fans! Guess its time to shop for some nice ones!

that's the issue with cheap fans they work so long as power is constant and no fluctuations.

Sooo, Here I am again!
Its been a while and the cooler has been doing ok, at least until recently!
I noticed a couple times after watching a few videos and general web surfing,
my temps were in the 45c to 48c range. Which seemed a bit high to me!
Yesterday(wed) I ran a program that uses the CPU at 100%.
That did not go so well! About 3 minutes in it was hitting 70c and locked up before it hit 5 minutes!
I used to be able to run the program and never go over 60c!
Right now it idles around 32c and while I'm typing this its sitting on 41c at less than 10% load!

So i'm revisiting the AIO water cooler replacement!
Its been a while, so I'm wondering if there's anything new out there?

I did a little looking and a lot of the choices I was looking at last year are Old News!
Some are not even in stock at Newegg or Amazon!

My options are limited by the case to a single 120mm or a 240mm steup!
I really think the 240 is the only route to go!
The AMD 9590 is heat monster!

EDIT: Looking at this, any opinions?

Good man. Let us know what the temps are. Do a temp test with current cooler then with the aio on the same day for a fair comparison :)

Re: Looking into new water cooler!

Still here after 4 months!
I did order the Corsair H100i RGB Pro XT, then left it sit!
Knowing it would probably be an all day project to pull it all apart, clean everything,
install the new cooler and put it back together!
During this time its been sitting around, always had the idea "Its Time for a New Build"
So it looks like the H100i is the 1st piece towards a new build!

I ordered 2 new Phanteks 120mm Radiator fans and installed them today(yesterday for you guys, since its 3:15am)
It now idles around 25c compared to 31c a day ago and I ran my BD copy program, which was overheating the system(80c+)
Never went over 61c! In a 3hr 12min run! =D>

So I'm done with this one and its time to put something together as a daily user for myself!
Nothing high end, just decent with as small as possible budget.
2 of my puter friends have built systems based on the AMD 3400G and seem to be extremely happy with them!
Any thoughts on the 3400G?

Also, My Wife seen this at MicroCenter a cpl weeks ago and said she wanted one!
https://www.newegg.com/black-lian-li-la ... 000Z-00054

My daughter bought 2, one for herself, one for her Hubby!(White)
I moved their hardware over to the new cases, pretty sure it will be holding my new build, whenever that happens!
Pretty impressive case for $95 in white($90 in blk) Makes for a clean looking build with little effort to cable management!
