Figure Out Who Made Your Power Supply - List Your Model!

Post by Apoptosis »

I've just learned a trick on how to find out the real manufacturer of power supplies!!

Take a look on the UL record posted on the PSU sticker and then go to this website: http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/temp ... /index.htm and go to the Certifications Directory and enter the UL File Number (ex. E12345). The UL File Number is an alphanumeric designation assigned to a company upon successful completion of a product evaluation or company certification.

XClio GreatPower 550 and 650, made by Channel Well, same as the TT ToughPower PSU.

I guess I could pull out the Hiper Type R 580 and the Cooler Master iGreen 430 to check them out one of these days as well.

And you already have the OCZ Game Xstream 700W listed.........;)

My Super Flower SF-480K14 looks to be made by
SUPER FLOWER COMPUTER INC themselves.

Note: The first unit they sent me directly from Taiwan was dead on arrival. But the 2nd unit has been rock-solid and I'm very impressed. I especially like the 14cm fan on the unit and the detachable cables.

Glad to see you found the UL site.........

But you must realize not all companies that have a UL number actually produce their own power supplies.

Case in point.........PC Power & Cooling actually manufacture none of their own product but instead use other manufacturers to source their ps's built to spec.

Silencers are currently being built by Seasonic; older Silencers were manufactured by Sparkle, now FSP

Turbo-Cools are manufactured by Win-Tact Electronics Corp.

A very good list of known UL numbers by manufacturer and true producer can be found here:

Great site for true manufacturers of power supplies

Oh we do realize that, definetly, and it also varies model to model within a certain manufacturer.

Easy, Dell made it.

They are very notorious for making the PSU for literally exactly the amount of power needed, and as a result my PSU is a whopping 305 Watts!

Yeah... dell doesn't really make models... they make the PSU for the PC and do it to the point that you might have to buy a new PSU just to get a new Video Card!!!

dell ships every standard pc with a 305W PSU, my 2004 P4 3.0 with integraded GFX has it, and a core2duo integrated also does, and yours, and the 305 can handle stock everything + an x850XT, the 305 i got has 2, 20A rails i believe which is really solid for most

edit- also, i'll check my coolermaster when i get it in
