Sweet!
Re: Sweet!
I have done something similar with the USB board out of an old external hard drive, but it wasn't able to do hot swap. That is pretty neat though.

Re: Sweet!
so who's gonna be the first to buy it and try it out?
Re: Sweet!
You can get it here. I am getting ready to go on vacation for 2 weeks so I won't be ordering before then. I don't know much about this retailer either which makes me hesitant. Anyone order from them before?

Re: Sweet!
I'm thinking of ordering one if its cheaper than ordering like a Seagate or WD external. I'll do some searching on the etailer and post what I find

Re: Sweet!
I had asked a few of my contacts in the IT field about products like these. ViPower was mentioned from two different people.
ViPower has the ability to have two HDD SATA USB drives in the slots with the possiblility of RAID capability.

The VIPower Store is in the USA to make purchases too.
It could be a sweeter deal.

I'm still waiting on my order for these. They were on backorder and supposed to ship "the beginning of Dec".

Re: Sweet!
I had a chance to try this out. Works great! So now, the 3 desktop and 1 laptop SATA drives I have laying around here can be put to good use! I have storage out the butt now.

FZ1,
Got any pics yet?
Also, can you point to the retailer you had actually used. I'm now in the market for a USB to HDD external setup. However, many of the reviews I've read talked about enclosure heat buildup. So, the route you went seems to be the ideal choice. Plus, I could swap drives easily too.
