Western Digital 1TB SATA 6.0Gbps Hard Drive - WD1002FAEX

Post by Apoptosis »

It looks like Western Digital is getting ready to announce SATA 6Gbps hard drives as a 1TB SATA 6.0Gbps hard drive with a part number of WD1002FAEX were spotted for sale in Japan by the site Akiba. We translated the article and found that the drive spins at 7200 RPM and has a massive 64MB cache. The maximum internal transfer rate is 126MB/s and the drive uses 6.8W of power during use and just 0.7W in a sleep state. The site states that the drive costs 10,000 yen, which is roughly $111.50. A WD Caviar Black 1TB hard drive (WD1001FALS) costs $94.99, so the SATA 6Gbps drive has a slight price premium.
