Maxtor HD giving me trouble!

Post by grunt »

NF4 Expert is the board, and 320gb Maxtor Diamondmax is the drive. When I am sent to the partition page while attempting to install windows it constantly hangs up... Anyone know of any issues right off the bat?

The memory on those boards tend to be anal, so try different memory slots for your DDR memory. Also might want to check to see if their is a firmware update for the drives. Other than that I don't know of a major maxtor issue with DFI boards.

Orange slots work best....furthest from cpu is even better.....

Make sure to disabe the silicon image controller and raid is disabled on the nForce4 chip.....

Check-out this thread @ DFI forums mayby this could be the prob :?

That board is very picky with ram....It will pass superpi 32M, dual prime95 and memtest86 and still give bsod's....it requires alot of patience (believe me)

Try with 1 stick of ram and set loose timings.....(auto with this board still means tight timings!)
Once you've formatted and installed, then start tweaking 8)
