5950?

Post by grunt »

Looking into maybe just getting either a 9800pro again or trying out the 5950 for my new little system till I get back, which is better? Also which manufacture is better to go with for either one?

Hmm, i would say the 9800 Pro, unless the 5950 is an Ultra version.
The 5959 Ultra is an excellent card, but very rare apparentley and also sucks some power... whereas the 9800's especially the new 256MB versions are actually downgraded 9800XT's....

Whichever u go for u cant loose, if u get a 9800 it will probably be the R360 (9800XT) core and u can OC it to the 412mhz speed of the XT. The 5950 if u can get the Ultra version will perform on par or better than a 9800XT, but be prepared to pay a premium as its very rare as nVidia couldnt get good yields on it.

What u could do however is get a Geforce 6800LE and use the latest rivatuner to unlock the extra pipelines.....
