Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS jerky video reproduction

Post by Gordanski »

I have just connected a new BENQ G2420HD Widescreen LCD monitor to my original Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS Graphics Card with a VGA cable supplied by BENQ. I had to change the screen resolution to 1920x1080 as recommended by BENQ and the quality and operation of the monitor is fine except for video reproduction on line. DVD playback is OK and internet performance is OK other than for video reproduction so is it a fault with either my Video Card, Linksys WRT610N Broadband router or my connection. My broadbans speed is 6Mb/sec. I had no trouble with video with my old monitor.

Hi Skier,

My old monitor was a Hanns G HX191DP0 with a std resolution of 1280x1024. When I connected the BENQ monitor this setting was still in operation and resulted in a distorted image i.e circles oval etc. I went into NVidia Control Panel but the 1920x1080 x 60Hz resolution was not available so I went into Customize and selected this from the table. This corrected the distortion but resulted in the problem I have outlined.

do you have another video card handy? a 7600GS is a pretty old card, and was lower midrange originally, so it likely doesn't have the guts to push that high of a resolution

try setting it to 1600x900 and see if the performance improves satisfactorily, it shouldn't have distortion issues at 1600x900 because that is the native aspect ratio

hi skier, thanks for your help. I've tried reducing the res. as you suggested. Very little improvement and slight bleed of text. I Player repro awfull on full screen ie pixalating and jerky. I had a horrible thought my card wasn't up to it and I think that confirms it. What about the "Sapphire Technology ATI Radeon 5670 HD 775Mhz 1GB PCI-Express 2.0 HDMI" card. Would that be a suitable replacement. I'm not an avid gamer just want good repro for video.
