PCI Express 2.0 Versus PCI Express 3.0 on GeForce GTX 760

Post by Apoptosis »

Someone asked about PCI Express 2.0 Versus PCI Express 3.0 on a GeForce GTX 760...

I ran a quick FRAPS benchmark on Far Cry 3... No significant difference at all.

PCIe 3.0 = Avg: 32.389 - Min: 29 - Max: 35
PCIe 2.0 = Avg: 32.300 - Min: 29 - Max: 35

I saw from other articles that there wasn't a noticeable drop in performance and no drop in some cases. I didn't ask the question but it is spot on with the last few upgrades I did. Went from Z68 to a Z77 and kept my 2600K. Then a few weeks later I bought a GTX 760 to replace the GTX 570 that was in the computer. From what I can recall the only time the difference was noticeable was on highend cards at super high resolutions. And even then the only change really was the minimum FPS.
