When building a custom notebook you first need to find out who is the original notebook maker. We all know that Dell and Alienware don't make their notebooks they buy the barebone systems and finish the build.

Here is a list of ODM's (ODM stands for Original Design Manufacturer)

* Acer - Corporate Site
* Arima - Corporate Site
* Chicony/Keydata Int'l - Corporate Site
* Clevo - Corporate Site
* Full Power Investment (Compal)- Corporate Site
* HyperData - Corporate Site
* Inventec - Corporate Site
* Jetta - Corporate Site
* Mitac - Corporate Site
* Quanta - Corporate Site
* Sotec - Corporate Site
* TwinHead - Corporate Site

This is a list of the ODM's that I am aware of. Please feel free to post any companies that I missed and I'll add them to the list.

Here are some of the more common ODM/OEM makers on the market.

ECS
MSI
Gigabyte
Wistron
FIC
Foxonn
Uniwill
Asus

Remember This -- Quanta, Compal and Asus make 60% of the notebooks on the market today! It would be in your best interest to start your seach with them!

Hey,

Jetta is also not a producer, but is using Compal & MSI Barebones/whitebooks. Hyperdata is an distributor.

A really nice and small builder from "great country of rice"is TopStar, I managed to pick them up from CeBit in Germany in `06.

PS! Can anyone find a link where I can find Foxconn NB-s?
