I just saw that mwave.com is carrying the ASUS S96J under the name INTEL-VBI S96J and is priced at $550. ExcaliberPC also has the ASUS S96J on their site, but are charging $595 for it. The ASUS S96J is in the Intel CBB program and uses the Intel 945PM chipset, which means this notebook will be able to play many current game titles. The ASUS S96J comes with the ATI Radeon X1600 video card with 256MB of graphics memory. The ASUS S96J features a WXGA 1280x800 LCD monitor and should be Merom and Yonah ready.

Is this laptop any good? would this be a good choice for a balance of graphics/mobility?

WOw that sounds like a steal. I got an Asus A8J with a Duo T7200 100gig hd, and a 7700go. It performs exellent and its very small ( screen is only 14inch) as well as lightweight. The build quality seems solid too(as it should be, it cost me 1.5k). Not to mention the HUGe touchpad.

I really recommend ASUS even for budget laptops, as long as the chasis is similar that is.
