Graphic errors on powecorlo hd 4830

Post by Rafa »

Hello, recently i've bought an power color hd 4830, mys sistem is: PSU Nox 500w, 2GB ram, pentium 4 3.4GHz, motherboard is ASROCK 4dualcore SATA2.

I've checked ASRock site to see if the graphic card was compatible and updated my bios so it can run it, my problem is, in game there ar some graphic errors like this one : Image

This happens in almost every game, but in a lesse extent, i've tried on Halo, Left4Dead and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the only game without these errors is Guitar Hero 3. I've tried the latest catalyst patch as well as the one recommended in the mobo site but the problem continues, does anyone have a clue how to fix this?

I used to get that issue often. I would try using AtiTool and do a scan for artifacts. if it finds some, then something isn't right with the card. I had a bummy gtx280 not too long ago that gave me all sorts of visual issues. I ended up selling it. try that program and see. are you overclocking the video card at all?

Just tested for artifacts on furmark and atitools, there weren't any... So i guess those things weren't artifacts at all

well if the scanner didn't show anything..maybe a driver issue. If you haven't doneit yet, download Driver Cleaner(or a similar program) it cleans out all the leftover driver files after uninstalling them. Then reinstall and see if that works.

^^^ Don't use driver cleaner it causes more problems than it fixes^^^

now you say you have a p4 3.4GHz 2GB ram and asrock mobo along with a 500W PSU but what else do have in that system how many HDD's fans sound card or NIC optical drives cd or dvd rom/rw these take a toll on a 500W PSU and if it's not upto snuff you'll see graphical errors like this at idle your system sofar will pull 300~350W stress it playing a game and there goes another 100~150W ontop of that you also don't say if it's AGP or PCI-e or which ati driver your using all of these little things will help us better diagnose the problem and offer better advice

That is definitely a driver issue. I got that only much worse in Far Cry with my X1950 Pro. Updating the driver resolved it right away. I get a similar thing in Mass effect with certain areas with the X 1950.

I haven't tested those games on my 4890 though.

Never caused any issues for me. regardless, he needs to clean out the drivers somehow and reinstall them or a new driver
