AMD recently informed Legit Reviews that the company is ready to stop using ATI for product branding and that all future products will now be called AMD. AMD bought ATI Technologies for $5.4 billion way back in 2006, so this has been a long time in the making. Many industry insiders didn't think it would take more than four years to make the shift, but as you can see it did. Existing ATI branded products will not be re-named unless they are long term products. For example the ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card nomenclature will remain the same. We are told future video cards will go by AMD Radeon HD 6xxx. Long term technologies like ATI Eyefinity will eventually be called AMD Eyefinity, but an exact date on when the switch would happen was not given. It was hinted that it would take place in Q4 2010, but nothing is certain in this industry.

Re: AMD Ready To Stop Using ATI For Product Branding
That's interesting. The AMD does not make me think of power, though. Probably because they're not doing so great with their CPUs. Maybe if they turn the CPU game around, they can have a stronger brand.
