Nintendo Giving Away Anti-Slip Remote Jacket

Post by Apoptosis »

Not sure if you guys heard this, but Nintendo recently announced that they will be giving away free silicone covers for their Wii Remotes starting Oct. 15. The Wii Remote Jacket will also begin shipping with all Wiis, remotes sold separately and packs of Wii Play which include the remote.

Current Wii owners who want to equip their Wii Remotes with the new Wii Remote Jacket free of charge can go to http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/jacket ... equest.jsp, or call 1-866-431-8367 to place an order. Nintendo will begin taking orders on Oct. 2, and Wii Remote Jackets will begin shipping the week of Oct. 15.

This program is going to cost Nintendo $17 million. And they've said it "Isn't going to affect us financially in any way".

So you know that the Wii and DS have made them again!

PS. UK owners, the relevant claim site is here: http://wii.nintendo.co.uk/22690.html

When placing an order be really really patient, the site is getting hammered, and hitting refresh will do nothing but screw up your order

I learned that one the hard way. :( Still got the order in, though.... after a few hours. :)

I tried a few times to put in my order, but it said that I had already ordered the maximum amount allowed for my Wii number?! :? I e-mailed them and they said that they were having problems with the online form... I will give it another go in a few days after the majority have finished hammering the site.

So I guess the replacement straps didn't help?

I still don't see why something like this is needed since you don't need to swing the controller like a madman to use it.

You don't need to, but people still do, usually the ones who don't own the console and have come round to play.

I have had that happen way too many times, friends come over, nearly taking off my head while playing wii sports tennis, and when playing wii sports boxing for the first time, for some reason, they think that they need to face me while playing and actually punch me!

Anyone get theirs yet? I just put my order in a couple of days ago and got the confirmation. I ordered 4, but will probably only use 2.
Just a little puppy trying to make it in a big digital world.

Got mine a bit ago, maybe a couple of weeks now. They do a good job of protecting the Wiimote/things it bashes into, but im not sure i like it. It makes the wiimotes heavier, and takes away its minimalistic sexiness.

Granted they probably will be a essential safety net for when having others play. But I don't think I'll be using them much, but I've always been careful when I played.

On a side note, a week after I got the 2 I ordered, I got another 2 through! I think the first time I submitted, the site told us there was an error and so i tried it the next day and it went through that time. So I kind of have 4 jackets and 2 wiimotes now

I can't remember when we put our order in, but I just got notified that our 4 wiimote jackets have been shipped. I'll post back with my thoughts on them too after using them for a bit.
