Capturing video from a game console

My son has decided that he wants to start doing these Let's Play video's that are all over Youtube. I have a Plextor ConvertX model PX-M402U, a PS3 console and an old Win XP pc to run everything thru. I just need to know how to hook all this up to capture video/audio from the PS3. Anyone out there have any experience setting this up that could provide me with detailed instructions?
