Intel X38 Express Chipset and 2133MHz DDR3
In a recent DDR3 memory kit review I was able to take a 2GB kit of OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 Platinum Enhanced Bandwidth Edition up to 2036MHz, but that is nothing compared to the potential of the Intel X38 Express chipset that will be launching next week. In a recent power point presentation by Intel a slide shows that the X38 chipset has the potential to run DDR3 memory at clock frequencies of up to 2133MHz, which is crazy fast. It will take memory manufactures a bit to do this as the memory IC's on the market today are not able to run at speeds this fast. Not to mention with current motherboard dividers the Front Side Bus (FSB) would have to be jacked way up to 533MHz FSB, which is beyond what most Core 2 Duo processors can reach without extreme cooling. On paper DDR3 has the potential and so does the chipset. Just thought this was interesting and worth sharing. It's always fun to look into the future and see whats coming. The Intel X38 Express chipset will of course only support up to 1333MHz DDR3 memory modules. Official support of 1600MHz DDR3 memory kits will have to wait till the Intel X48 Express chipset. Feedback is always welcomed.

Re: Intel X38 Express Chipset and 2133MHz DDR3
I read that Asus will qualify DDR3 @ 1600MHz on their X38 boards..........which leaves me to ask, what real benefit is there in getting the X48 boards?
Seems like X48 are just higher binned X38's
