We found Kingston Technology showing off the companies upcoming HyperX T1 memory module heat spreader design this morning during CES 2012.

Kingston hasn't done any major heat spreader changes in a number of years, so the new design helps freshen up the HyperX T1 modules appearance. The modules feature a the blue color that Kingston has always used, but the sides have a splash of color as one side all blue and the other is partly black.

One of the major design changes for the new heat spreaders is that they are shorter than the previous version. This is great news as the memory slots are now found super close to the CPU socket and that means that the CPU cooler won't fit when tall memory is used. Kingston recognized this shift and came out with a new design that is better suited for Intel X79 quad-channel DDR3 motherboards. Kingston told us that the name of this series will change as they are finishing up the design before bringing it to market in the near future. Kingston showed off a HyperX module with red-colored heat spreaders. Notice the red 'Limited Edition' HyperX modules!
