I think if u r using Vista x64,then only u can go for 4Gb.Otherwise stick to whatever u have.Btw, if u have the money to spend, i'll suggest investing in a better CPU or a better GPU.

Wow haven't paid attention to this thread in a while, but I will be getting more memory thanks to kenc51 who pointed me in the direction of a kit that would work with my existing setup. And I'll go 64-bit just so that 3ds max can finally take advantage of that huge amount of RAM it always wants :)

All I know is I just tried to install another matched pair of Corsair XMS2 PC6400 on my XBX2 and system only recognized 3.25 gb in Windows (XP Home SP/2 32bit) BIOS saw 4gb. Ran Memtest, no errors, but Windows had random shut downs, so back to 2 gb for now.
I understand 32bit OS is limited to 3 gb, so I tried 3 sticks and it ran, but got a warning on start up that the 3rd stick wasn't going to work in dual channel because it wasn't in a pair so seemed kind of pointless to keep it in.

Well that's the addressing problem rearing its ugly head again...32-bit OSes can address 4GB of memory, but some of that address space is mapped to things like video adapters...that's why I'm going 64-bit once I get this RAM.

i think it'd be a blast just to build a completely pimped out board. every slot maxed out you know?

make the ultimate budget pc lol

like a mid-range ASUS or ABIT mobo, 8Gb RAM (corsair value ram of course) a 8800gts 320mb card, and a dual processor :)

probably an x2 instead of c2d cause its way cheaper now.

c'mon i know people have wondered what on earth its like to have 8Gb of RAM

MSI RTX 3060 Ti Ventus 3X 8G OC LHR
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB
6GB Seagate HDD
EVGA 650BQ 650W PSU
ASUS VE278 27" monitor, Dell E2216HV (vertical)
Logitech Z533 2.1 Speakers, G935 7.1 or G435 headset
