DDR500 Memclock @ 234 in CPUZ?
DDR500 Memclock @ 234 in CPUZ?
I got the Mushkin 2x 1GB DDR500 (3-3-2-8/2.6v-2.9v) and put it in my AN832-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I set the DDR Vcore to 2.8V and I manually entered the stated timings from the brand ( 3-3-2-8 ), and I also set the Memclock to limit to 250MHz.
When I boot up, the POST screen states DDR500 instead of DDR400. But when I get into Windows and see what CPU-Z has to say, everything is right except for the memclock frequency. It reads 234.6Mhz and not 250. Is it me or did I forget to configure something else in Bios?
I tried 2.9V and I still get the same thing. Just trying to get the best outta my memory :D

Here's the screenie of CPU-Z 1.40:
Although if I set each stick to run @ 250, the POST screen does state DDR500
Well the motherboard default is to read memory up to DDR400, so by resetting bios, it would just go back to 400Mhz.kenc51 wrote:You should try reset the bios, especially with new ram!

That didn't work either. I was given an option to overclock the NB to SB to 250 and I still have 234 in CPU-Z, but as far as trying to do that, everything at default is at 200, even the CPU FSB.
I tried to OC the CPU FSB to 250 and it crashed Bios. Luckily this board has a crash free bios system :D

I know this topic is a couple of weeks old now but i did notice you have BIOS version 1205, you should update the BIOS to 1303, or even the new Beta BIOS release 1405.
I am using 1303 and i won't use the Beta release because i don't see any point in doing so. I will wait until the final release. It's till good to know Asus is working on a new BIOS for our motherboard.
