just finished my NES HTPC very simple set-up. prototype is done now I have 3 more cases to get it prefect. I'll be living with my GF soon so PC gamming on the 55" will prob not happen anymore. I decided to get rid of the big nMedia case and use a NES case for smaller footprint and retro goodness, unfortunatlly that also means no 5750 video card

NES case (gutted)
ZOTAC IONITX-G-E Intel Atom 330 (1.6GHz, dual-core) NVIDIA ION Mini ITX Motherboard
and 4GB of RAM
DVD Drive
30GB OCZ Vertex SSD

all 2TB of music movies ect is on my network so no need for a bigger hard drive. I'll post pics when i can.
Core i5-6500 - Corsair Vengence 16GB DDR4 2133 - MSI 2080Ti - Antec 750W - Crucial 525GB SSD - Windows 10 64bit - ASUS 32" LED

Sort of HTPC:

Specs:
PC
Antec Three Hundred
CD E5200 @ 4GHz
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Rev 1.1
4GB DDR2 800
8800 GTS 320MB
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 w/ Remote (not using it though)
Lite-On 22X SATA DVD-RW
OCZ ModXStream 600W PSU
2x1TB Samsung F1 RAID 0
Win 7 Media Center
Windows 7 Professional x64

TV
None - 17" CRT Monitor FTW

Components
None

Uses:
To record over the air HD recordings so I can watch those on my actual HTPC. Thank goodness the old owners of the house decided to put a giant TV antenna in the attic otherwise I'd be limited to 3 channels (NBC, Fox and The CW). Live roughly 45 miles from the average broadcast tower, most TV stations here in Houston are on the West/Southwest part of town.

Remote:
Nothing special, the one that came with my Hauppauge PVR.

Special Notes:
While this isn't a dedicated HTPC it is recording TV for another HTPC.

Do you have to blow in your DVD player to get the discs to work?

NES joke for those that know what I'm talking about.

you had to slap the top of our playstation to get the disks to read

alternately, i use a Dell Latitude D620 as an HTPC sitting behind our 46" and control it via logmein lol

Good lord I remember doing that constantly to EVERY game I had ...but the trick worked  .. if it didn't you'd just slam it harder each time until it worked.

blowing the DVD is an upgrade option I am working on.. actually I have seen some people cut up an old NES game and fit the drive in the game cartridge, so when the top is open it looks like a game is in it - that will be on my next one. I need to sell this one first. I think I might just pull the box off and sell the parts on ebay.

Can you setup the controller to plug in and work as a usb device so you can use an old school nes controller as your game pad?

yeah that is the easy way.. otherwise you can get a adaptor that will convert your original NES controller pluged in as an input device.

LMAO! Smack, that is by far the most unique comp that I have seen in a LONG time! Awesome job!!!
Besides blowing on the game, remember pulling the cartridge out just enough to hit when u push the game down? That little trick seemed to work to....might now work with the DVD, though. LOL

Going to get mighty cold sitting outside, drinking cold beer, watching football in December in Wisconsin. My friends used to do this when they would order UFC when they were at Texas A&M. Screen setup against the fence, projector on the roof, cold kegs and shot blocks... the good old days.
