XBox 360 & Win Media Center no-go

Post by rat6fink »

OK ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the issue at hand is I cannot get WMC and my 360 to play nice together. I setup the PC, and the setup the XBox as a media extender. All is well on that point, and it all showed 5x5...After shutting down and turning it back on, the XBox freezes after a couple of minutes. It gets to the WMC screen (in this case we'll say we selected the Movies category), and just locks up. When I press the XBox button, I can go back to the dashboard fine. And if I setup the 360 as an extender again and go thru all the steps, it will work fine (but doing that is kind of a drag since I have quite a few movies, and takes awhile to load them all over and over again).

I've tried some troubleshooting, and got nowhere. Included, but not limited to, is: deleting WMC and reinstalling, opening the firewall, turning off the firewall, turning on media streaming, turning off the PC and 360 and rebooting, removing the 360 as an extender and re-install (this is my personal favorite)....

Specs are in my sig, and I am running Win7 x64, with Avast as antivirus, Windows firewall, and have a 2wire broadband gateway from at&t uverse as the connection. The PC is hardwired to the gateway with cat5, and the 360 is wired to the nearest cable box's network port (i ran out of my spool of cat5, so i can't go direct to the router).

I really wanna use the WMC, but I'm ready to tear my eyeballs out. Help me Legit forums! You're my only hope.....
