My a/v receiver took a dump, what should I buy?

My a/v receiver took a dump, what should I buy?

Post by vbironchef »

My Yamaha rx-z9 will not power up so I need a new receiver. I was thinking of the The RX-A3010 AVENTAGE AV Receiver to replace the rx-z9 that is about 7 years old. In the 2000.00 dollar or less price range what would be a good replacement.

I also switched from a Yamaha in 2010. my choice was a marantz http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FXSDR8 (I've got it for $600 at the time - sale from $800). I have a pair of Martin Logans for speakers, I do listen to music a lot in stereo (both records and CD's) and am extremely content with my purchase.
I would recommend you buy this newer and bigger model (7x110W) - It can decode ALL AV surround modes and has a very good sound quality both in stereo or multichannel: http://www.amazon.com/Marantz-SR6005-Au ... _pr_sims_t You save almost half the price now (These rarely go on sale - especialy for this much). I'm sure it will not sound worse than the Yamaha (I think it will be actually way better) and you will not regret it.

The RX-A3010 AVENTAGE AV Receiver is made by Yamaha. I like the way you think, but I was looking for something that has more power. Maybe something that has at least 150 w per channel. Have you read the specs this receiver? http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-vi ... mode=model I really don't care about hooking up a apple product to the receiver.

Edit: I just ordered the RX-A3010 AVENTAGE AV Receiver.

Yeah but the 110W is x7 when it drives only a pair of speakers (in stereo) it will be more like 2x160W

Anyway, good luck with the new Yamaha, hope you enjoy it =D>

The RX-A3010 AVENTAGE AV Receiver is here! I will connect it tomorrow. I have about 5k in speakers so a 600. dollar receiver just won't do. Going to get the whole system re-wired with better stuff than I have now. Heck my tv cost over 2k. sbohdan, you are from Canada so I thought you would have talked me into a Anthem MRX 700 receiver http://anthemav.com/products/anthem/a-v-receiver I almost pulled the trigger on that receiver. I wish I could buy their separates vs. buying a receiver instead.

Edit: I must say that I am really shocked that nobody but one person even showed a interest in this thread. I almost feel that most of the readers here except for the old timers are living with their parents and have a hard time deciding on a graphic card that cost over 400. dollars. I just feel that's sad. I think that Legit Reviews should include more hi-end reviews and do a better job with this thread. If not, LR should delete this part of the forum. I never hear of any reviews of receivers or separates. I don't get it?

Edit: Legit Reviews just seems to be a magnet for spam, why is that? Why not step it up a notch and cover equipment that is worth the money. Not just the latest cheap stuff on the market. The times are a changing and I hope that LR can keep up!

Edit: What I am trying to say is that now that everything, and I mean everything from I-pad, I-phone, drone phone, laptop is now connected to the home network via your router including your a/v receiver, blue-ray player and such. I can't think of any new gadget that does not link up with the router for home entertainment.
