The question is....
Are there any Tuner cards or other options for TV capture that are better than Hauppage?
Specifically the 2250 and/or 1600!
I have both and gave them to a friend to setup a cord cutting PC and the reception is crap at best!
They worked pretty good for me(30+ chs), not so much for him(4 or 5chs)! He's only 10 or 12 miles out further than me!

Re: TV Tuner cards for PCs?
I am going out on a limb here because I have not had a tv tuner card in a long time but most all of them are just a tuner so they are all about the same other than recording options like how many shows at once, etc. Used to have multiple cards in a computer to record more than one show!
I would recommend a better antenna. If he can get an antenna on the outside of the house and have it motorized (have to be able to turn the thing to where the channel is coming from) it would work a lot better. If he already has an outside one then he is like us and screwed. I get like 4 channels OTA and that is with the antenna power all the way up and then they flick in and out.

Re: TV Tuner cards for PCs?
Only ever had one tv tuner in my old Gaming rig back in 2010. It worked fairly well but signal would jump in and out from time to time and was wired to the outside antenna. Even a little wind would cut me off randomly for a second or so. My main tv never ever had issues even with bad weather. Wish I could find a way to have used the sky dish to get better signal and more channels.
Not sure what the laws are towards satellite signal boosting in the states but we can do that here as long as we have a tv license which you must have to watch live tv.

Re: TV Tuner cards for PCs?
Part of the reason I asked is because he only picks up 4 or 5 chs with tuner card but if he connects the antenna directly to his TV he picks up 20+ chs!
Looking for a better Tuner! Apparently the Hauppage tuners are not sensitive enough!
Like you guys I was into multi tuner setups several yrs ago!
Its been a long time since I've looked at any of this!
And I always thought Hauppage where the best!?!
I was hoping something new(to me) was out there!

Re: TV Tuner cards for PCs?
That is weird. I remember when I had mine (again, years ago) I got better reception on the computer than I did on my tv from an antenna!
Everything i read is Hauppauge is a godly company that will make everything better for everyone as long as you go with their high end models. If you buy the lowly godly product than they will smite you.
Thats it. I think Avermedia is still around - yep - https://www.avermedia.com/professional/ ... w/overview - dunno how they compare to the godly company above but it may be better than getting smote.

Re: TV Tuner cards for PCs?
For me I never used an antenna. Cable was still at the point where a Set top box wasnt needed to pick up basic cable short of Premium chs(HBO, Showtime...etc)KnightRid wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 3:48 am That is weird. Hauppage was the tuners to have! I have/had (2) 2250s and a 1600.
I was recording up to 4 programs at one time!
I was really disappointed when I set him up and got crap for results!
