AMD Phenom X3 Processors and Motherboard Compatibility

Post by Apoptosis »

Motherboard Compatibility:

AMD has recommended hardware compatibilities for Phenom processors in the box on the right-hand side of this page:

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Tec ... 45,00.html

Regarding motherboards, since the Phenom X3 processors have not yet to been added as processor model options on the motherboard look-up tool, you should select the Phenom X4 9550 processor in your search for recommended motherboards. Because that X4 model and the X3 CPUs that are launching on April 23rd share the same silicon revision and the same max TDP specification, those are the same motherboards that will likely be recommended for the X3s:

Because the Phenom X3 is part of the “Cartwheel” AMD platform and lends itself to testing in the 780G platform as I suggested above, you may use the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard that was distributed with the AMD 780G launch. Even though that motherboard does not appear on this list, it does properly identify the Phenom X3 8750 with the latest publicly available BIOS (F3) and at last check I was told it was progressing well through testing and should be added to the “recommended” list for 50-series, 95W TDP Phenom processors in the near future.

Some board suggestions:
· Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H
· Asus M3A32-MVP deluxe
· MSI K9A2 Platinum (MS-7376)
· MSI K9A2 CF (MS-7388)
· Asus M2A-VM
· ECS AMD690GM-M2
· ECS RX780M-A(A770M-A)
· ECS AMD690VM-M2
· MSI K9A2GM (MS-7501)
· ECS A780GM-A (RS780M-A)
