Random blue screen and restart- M3A32-MVP Deluxe

Post by tiger13ind »

Hi,

My name is Ajeeth. I recently purchased M3A32-MVP-DELUXE motherboard and a XFX Geforce 9600 GT Graphic card. My computer configuration is this:

Motherboard - M3A32-MVP-DELUXE
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2
Power supply - Zebronics 450 W
Graphic card -Geforce 9600 GT
RAM - 2 X 1 GB Corsair (Matched Pair)

All the components mentioned above are brand new.

I have installed all the drivers from the Asus and XFX CDs on XP environment. .
I am getting this issue a lot of times - Blue screen and random reboot.
I checked in the eventvwr and found these system errors:

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf8021e1, parameter3 b346fc74, parameter4 00000000.

Can you please let me know what could be the cause for the problem? This is happening on a regular basis and am not able to work on it.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ajeeth

Well from the general trend of the errors they are supposed to be caused by hardware compatibility issues. Most likely a driver problem.

You should update the drivers for the motherboard and graphics card to the latest from the respective websites (nvidia and asus).

You did reformat and run a fresh install of windows with the new motherboard right? If you didn't then that is the cause of the problems.

Hi Dan,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, I formatted the system and installed XP once I got the motherboard. As advised by you, I will check and apply more driver updates for both the Asus and Nvidia components and let you know.

Cheers!

I would also suggest checking if there are any BIOS updates for your motherboard. I had a similar problem recently; despite obtaining the latest drivers for all the components, the blue screen struck like clockwork every time a particular program was opened. I updated the motherboard's BIOS and it hasn't blue-screened once in about 3 weeks.

If that doesn't work you may want to check up on your memory. If you have two sticks, take one of them out and see if the blue screen still happens. Then test the other one by itself as well.

Good Luck! :)

Thats exactly what I was to suggest next :P

A better way of testing memory is via memtest86+. Download and burn it to a CD then boot from the CD and let it run.

Do you happen to know of any descriptions and or instructions that explain how to read and understand Memtest? I've tried it on a few setups, but I'm not sure what to look for to see if the memory failed or passed. There were quite a few 'failed' and 'passed' messages that seemed to reset and change every few seconds.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but since the issue has come up, perhaps a little enlightenment on this tricky program would be good for people like myself.

There are reports flying around the web dealing with XP SP3 causing the blue screen and continually looping reboots. This is only happening with AMD processors. The INQ has a report on this.

ok first off as for AMD cpu based machines crashing with xp sp3 that is to with an oem bios issue nothing to do with the cpu and it's mostly on HP machines which they and Microshaft are comming up with a patch to fix it

now back on topic

its your PSU it's under powered for your setup a 450W is the bare min needed to boot your system let alone have a enough power to do any work with it upgrade your psu to atleast a 550W model of a descent brand name
