Good OC'ing But Affordable mATX Motherboard

Post by jedihobbit »

 :( :x It appears I may have fried the TA780G AM2+ mobo that is/was part of this build

CASE: SilverStone SOG1
PSU: Enermax Infiniti 650W
MOBO: Biostar Tf780G AM2+
CPU: AMD PI X3 8750BE
HSF: Cuplex XT di
GPU: Evga 8800GTS w/AquagraFX 8800
MEMORY: TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF
HDD: Seagate 7200.10 ST380815AS 80GB
Optical Drive 1: TBD

What I'm really wondering is if I really need a 780/700 or above mobo as this system's (DreamCatcher v3.5) primary job will be that of a "bling" water cooled dedicated folder.

So looking for some suggestions as to a mobo.......the ones I keep gravitating to have lots of bells and whisles that I'd more than likely never use. Just want to be able to OC the 8750BE "respectively" (3.0GHz?) so that would have to be considered in mobo choice.

If interested I have a TA760 M2+ coming as the only diff I can see is the HD3000 (760) vs HD3200 (780) and the 760's NB710 to the 780's NB700.

Let us know how it turns out. I have been wondering what kind of performance difference there is between the 2 boards. :-k
