Rumors have been flying around that the board copies Gigabyte's famed 2oz z Copper PCBs... I read the original story over at Hexus then did a google search on the board...
Take a look at these two pictures... Is it just me or could this just be a photoshop rumor?
Looks like someone took the full size PR photo that Taiwan sent out and placed a font over it at the bottom of the board...
Is ASUS Really Coming Out With 2oz Copper Motherboards?
Re: Is ASUS Really Coming Out With 2oz Copper Motherbaords?
The focus on the 2oz copper font looks way too perfect to be real IMO

It looks downright photoshopped to me. The placement of 2 oz copper is just way too conspicuous to me.

its been the big slogan touted by Gigabyte execs using 2oz of copper in boards in keeping with their "ultra-durable" nameSkippman wrote:So forgive my ignorance but whats the big deal about 2oz copper?

There is also a subtle "express gate" silkscreen missing from the XFastest image but visible on the press image. I'm not certain what is up
They started with the EP45-UD3R/P. The additional copper is in two layers that form the ground and power planes on the board. We aren't certain if it is the thicker power and ground planes or if the board in general is just well designed, but the UD3R/P are rediculous DDR2 overclockers. Gigabyte held a contest because of this and the 1st place result was DDR2-1800. The 1st place CPU-Z submission isn't visible but here is the 2nd place submission, DDR2-1780 6-11-11-31.Skippman wrote:So forgive my ignorance but whats the big deal about 2oz copper?

I think the airbrush shadow is to highlight the board more on the white back ground, it doesn't even look like it has 2oz copper in it.

yes its more better asus got a new copper for Motherboards, its being more unique..im excited to see this one
Re: Is ASUS Really Coming Out With 2oz Copper Motherboards?
Good to know that it has a real use, thanks guys. I wish I had a thermal imaging machine... it'd be fun to test the heat dispersion on a 2oz copper board and a 1oz copper board, because common sense tells you that it would make a difference.Travel Guide
