I was on ASUS's website checking to see if there's any new BIOS for my Crosshair Mobo, and guess what I found?!
http://forums.legitreviews.com/about32895.html, and now this?! It seems that the Mobo manfacturers' have found a way to support AM3+ on their AM3 boards..even if AM3+ has one more pin. If this is really going to happen, a plus for those with AM3 boards!! Unlike Intel -no offense- who REQUIRES you to buy a new board for a single pin change.
So far, the Crosshair IV Formula is the only 890FX Mobo from ASUS that has this BIOS; the Crosshair IV Extreme and such do no.
I'll look around and see if other manufacturers are also doing this or not.
At the time being, you can have a look yourself if you don't believe me:
ASUS site > Crosshair IV Formula > Downloads > Select ANY version of Windows > BIOS 3012.

The Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 rev 3.1 also has "AM3+" printed on the motherboard! No AM3+ BIOS though.

ASRock's 890FX Deluxe5 also has "AM3+" on the board. First BIOS from 2/21/2011, but no description.

ASRock 890GM Pro3 R2.0 AND 880G Pro3 has "AM3+." It also says supports 8-cores...can this be the new upcoming 8-core CPUs, or the Opterons?

Re: AM3+ support on Corsshair IV Formula??
Seems that ASUS has released the news that the currnet 8XX series boards WILL support AM3+ via BIOS update!
A bunch of boards like the 880G, 870 and 760G will have new revisions that will support AM3+ CPUs also.

Re: AM3+ support on Corsshair IV Formula??
SWEEEEEEET!!!
My ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 is on that list!
The test bios is available on my boards' download page, although obviously I won't be using it right away since the Bulldozers will probably be well beyond my price range for awhile. But it is nice to know that my mobo isn't at a glass ceiling after all, and was a good investment (right around this time last year I paid less than they are going for now on newegg). It would stand to reason that everyone's existing boards that will be upgradeable by a simple bios flash could actually go up in value on the used market.
I'm sure, though, that there will be something extra just for the new AM3+ boards that are to be made especially for the Bulldozers, otherwise they are just shooting themselves in the foot by giving us added value on already realized sales. This is just another reason why AMD is the value leader, and why I've been an AMD fanatic since 2002.

I have come to the conclusion that "FaceBook" should be renamed "FacePalm"
