8RDA+ Ver. 2.1

Post by OVC »

Just ordered a EPOX 8RDA+ Ver. 2.1(NOT 8RDA3+),i wondered if you guys know the difference between 8RDA+ Ver. 2.1 and Ver. 1.1????

Reading around i saw that ABIT will come soon with "A7N"(new NForce 2 MOBO with their GURU BIOS)

Thinking weather should i rather go after the ABIT MOBO or maby a completely other NForce 2 MOBO

OVC,

For starters welcome to our forums! Hope you find this a great place to find accurate info! We may be small, but it's the quality that counts!

To answer your question...

The 8RDA+ 1.1's do not have a soft programmable VDD regulator chip or the nessessary control lines. Therefore the VDD regulator chip can not be programed via the BIOS. Although there is a bios that includes this option for pre-rev 2 boards, it does not work. The rev2 has an entirely new PCB that allows VDD control and is better designed for higher speed memory. It officially supports 400 FSB which 1.1 does not.

Hope this helps!
